Yesterday was one of those rare "Blue Sky" days that makes you forget about the to-do list. Nancy and I needed a break, so we decided to get out of Dodge for a few hours. In just one hour, we were standing on the sand at Rye Beach, the salt air washing away the week's stress. That drive is exactly why I love this state.
New Hampshire has a way of resetting your mind. The Lakes Region is the heart of it all, but the beauty is how close everything is. You can be in the mountains, on a quiet lake, or at the ocean in the same afternoon. Yesterday, the water was glassy, the sky was endless, and there was no agenda. We just walked, talked, and watched the tide.
People often ask why I stay here. It is not just the scenery, though that helps. It is the pace. In the Lakes Region, life slows down. You remember what matters. You remember that a simple ride to the coast can feel like a real vacation. No traffic jams, no crowds, just the sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun.
For anyone who has not taken that hour-long drive, I recommend it. Find your own blue sky day. New Hampshire gives you that gift. It is a place that does not try to impress you. It just is. And that is exactly why I love it.
